Gothic Rocker Chick

Another fashion trend for the fall season is rocker chic, with zippered motorcycle
jackets and ripped jeans.  But I'm gonna add a bit of twist.  How about a rocker bat
mitzvah with a little bit of goth glamour?  Solid red tables would dance amongst
solid black tables while the head table would be black with pops of red.

Giving Credit

In "Translating the Trend", I want to give credit for the pictures I used.  I never want to pull images and not give the proper credit
to the vendor or website.  So here goes:

Invitations - Oh So Beautiful Paper (beautifulpaper.typepad.com)
Wedding Gown - evening-dresses.eu
Cake, Tabletop, & Cufflinks - brides.com; and,
Ribbon - papermart.com

I apologize to the individual websites and vendors for this oversight.

Translating a Trend

Two of the fall season's trends are wild berries and plaids.  So I thought what fun it would be
to translate those two over to the party world.  Here are some pics of blueberry (or as close to blueberry as I could get) plaids for inspiration.

Finding My Focus Again

I am taking a break for a while.  I'm going through something right now that has caused me to
lose myself.  So I have also lost my focus.  I'm trying to find it again.  That's why my blogs have been so far and few in between.  Hopefully, when I return I'll be brand new and refreshing.

I ask for your prayers and hope to be back blogging soon with great zeal.

My First Attempt at a Diaper Cake

A couple of weeks ago, my best friend's husband had a baby shower for her.  She just had her twin baby girls yesterday.  Well, I decided to make her a diaper cake.  I looked up a recipe for it, made my earnest attempt at it, and these are pictures of  how it turned out.  Her colors were pink, yellow, and green.  And I decided to use my Cricut to cut out the babies' names to put on it.  Hope you like it.  And I hope I have a chance to make more; it was fun.

Something from Almost Nothing!

For my daughter's birthday, I wanted to create some things that were truly unique.  But
I really do have a small budget.  So I literally created something from almost nothing.  For my
first feat, I took an ordinary box that I got from work....

BEFORE

AFTER

Truly amazing, if I do say so myself.  It is awesome what foam stickers, popsicle sticks, wrapping paper, and cardstock can do.

And for my next magic trick, I purchased an umbrella from The Dollar Tree along with some felt from Joann Fabrics....

ABRACADABRA!!

HOCUS POCUS!!

VOILA!!

These two creations along with some other items I purchased will be a part of the centerpieces.

Saturday is the big day and I will be posting pictures of the celebrations.  So check back for my greatest magic trick of all!

Countdown: 1 Week until Hawaiian Paradise

My daughter's birthday party has been set for May 30th, this Saturday.  I am busy finalizing the details and finishing some of the decorations.  I will be posting some of the decor either today or tomorrow.  And then pictures of the party itself will be up on the Sunday following the party.  So come back to see the culmination of all the planning for "Mahogany in Maui".

The Hawaiian Party Theme, Part 2

Now, in my quest for the perfect decor for my daughter's 9th birthday party, I stumbled upon
some good, but cheap additions to my party package.

Upon entering my local Target, I come upon their dollar section. Below are pictures of the items I picked up --- a couple of flamingos, some bamboo placemats (4), some little pick buckets, and some bamboo poles. I have decided to make runners out of the placemats. And I will make the poles and the flamingos apart of my centerpieces.

I have also been brainstorming and have come up with some interesting, but, I think, doable creations for the party as well. Here's a clue, see if you can figure it out: What do get when put together cardboard boxes, popsicles sticks, and several sheets of cardstock in vibrant colors? The answer: I'll have it for you next week....So stay tuned!

She has a wonderful eye for detail, a flair for the beautifully dramatic and eclectic, and her aesthetic is like a breath of fresh air. So please visit http://www.gloriawongdesign.com/, and I guarantee it will be chic, sweet, tailored, AND tasteful.

Hawaii...Only A Party Theme Away!

Beginning plans for my daughter's eighth birthday party. The theme is a Hawaiian tropics. She fantasizes about going on a vacation to Hawaii. One of her friends in school even told her that it only costs one dollar to go there (HAHAHAHAH!!!!!). If that were true, I would spend every weekend in Hawaii, lying on the beach.

Anywho, I will be chronicling my party planning here on the blog beginning with the inspiration for this sure-to-be fabulous party. It is a cake topper from the website http://www.dessertdecor.com/. The picture is blurred and doesn't enlarge well, but you get the basic idea.

If you have any ideas, feel free to submit them. I welcome all suggestions.

My Easter Tablescape

Here are pics of an Easter table I did. Me and a couple of friends of mine had an egg hunt and party. I took pics before it was ravaged by little hands.

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Me!!

Hello, everyone my name is Theresa Kidd, and this is officially my first post. I have never blogged before so bear with me as I learn the ins and outs. I would like to start off this new endeavor by telling you a bit about me.

I am a 32 year old mother of three who has just recently found herself truly on her own. I have a degree in fashion merchandising, and I have worked in retail for most of my adult life. Right now, I work for a well known department store as a visual merchandiser, but am looking forward to pursuing my own business as a children's event planner. That is reason for starting this blog --- to get myself out there to be heard and seen by all. It took me a while to decide what I really wanted to do with my life. But I have found that I really want to plan parties. I have organized several events over recent years --- two family reunions, an appreciation banquet, baby showers, and numerous parties for my children. And I really love to plan my children's parties because you can be truly creative when it comes to doing things for them. I want to carve out a niche in children's party planning.

I hope that once you visit my blog you will continue to visit frequently. I am planning to post at least once a week (the operative word being planning). And I hope that I will always have great things to show and tell. So join me and become a follower!

Thanks for visiting.
